Hosted by Lynne & John Vara

We met at 9:30 and it was already 85 degrees, everyone was seeking the limited shade but looking forward to another MLR.  Lynne and John collected $14 a person and handed out directions with meal choice tickets.  There were 23 cars and 41 people.  We departed at 10:00 and headed down Rt 79 to our normal regroup location.  We lined up Lemans Style, thanks Leo for the terminology, it was a flawless execution once John McDermott, the last car, blocked the 79.
.
We continued down Rt 79 for 35 miles and went to Warner Springs Golf Course for our bathroom break.  Everyone liked the pace and was enjoying the scenery.  Again John stopped traffic with his Black C6 as we all exited the parking lot and continued down 79.  After 3.5 miles we turned left on San Felipe rd and regrouped.  The group was intact in less then a few minutes.  This road was wide and very interesting in how far you could see in spots but the road had many blind dips.  After 16 miles we turned on Rt 78 West.
I know many people in the group wanted to step down hard but we refrained as we climbed into the mountains.  The wide open road became windy and narrow with quick turns, and slow speeds to keep it on the road.  We then turned on Wynola rd and the turns were even tighter then the last road.  The vegetation was thick and many trees.  At the end of this road we intersected Rt 78.
.
Our destination was Wynola Pizza and Bistro, in Julian.  We sat down, put our meal tickets out and within minutes we were served various sandwiches and salads with unlimited soft drinks.  As usual we had great conversations, enjoyable food with excellent service.  Everyone enjoyed the run.
.
Forgot to mention the restaurant was out of apple pie and since we are in the Capital of Apple Pie, how can we leave without a slice?  So Robert and Maria Erhardt, Joe and Barbie Orsini, John and Lynne Vara headed to Julian with the Erhardt’s leading, the parking was minimal, and we ended up in various spots with the Erhardt’s in front of the Julian Pie Company.  They grabbed a table while we parked and walked over.  The line was long, but we had some delicious pie, some plain and some a la mode, everyone enjoyed it.  See the last picture of the Vara’s car in Julian.
