Breakfast Social
January 26, 2018

.

The day of our first breakfast social of 2018 dawned gray and chilly. Many of the attendees brought jackets and gloves and wore sweaters to ward of the mid-30s temps. We all remember that COTV usually takes over an OUTDOOR patio for these events so in the summer we may be too warm and on days like this, too cool.

.

Our “breakfast goddesses”, Marilyn and Carole, planned another winner. As Chuck Isenberg said, if you go home hungry from Richie’s Diner, you have only yourself to blame.  Marilyn and Bill just got back from a “camping” trip to Borrego Springs last night, but still made it to Richie’s to greet us at the door. Unfortunately, Carole and Leonard just got back from a cruise and were so sick they didn’t make it to breakfast at all. In fact, they were sick throughout the cruise. We thank them for keeping their germs to themselves and that goes for Bev Weeks and some others who did not join us. Terry Isenberg was a no-show, but she has a good excuse since she is recovering from knee surgery. Even with a couple of cancellations, we had 42 hungry members on hand.

.

Steve Ryan brought along a friend, Mark McHose, a Cadillac aficionado. Bruce Mofford came for a brief stay and left to have some work done on his Corvette. Marsue Page came without her working husband and Jim Sommars and Don Weeks paired up since neither of their wives were with them. Marti Schoemann, who has been missing in action for some time, came along to grab a meal with us. John McDermott, who claimed he was finally germ-free, joined the crowd for his first official appearance as President in 2018.

.

Richie’s staff did a great job of getting the orders taken and the food delivered quickly. We didn’t hear any complaints about the taste of things as people cleaned their plates as well. The side of the patio who had Karlee as our waitress want to thank her for doing a tremendous job for all of us and smiling though the whole event as she kept us fed and poured more and more coffee.

.

After the crowds had dissipated, a smaller planning team worked on some of the upcoming trips for the club. We recommend that you all keep an eye on the website calendar and your e-mail box for more details. If you are interested in joining in on a future road-trip, go to the calendar, find the days involved and click on the More Details button to see what sights you might see and what hotels have been suggested for the group. Even if you don’t want to participate in a car show, you might be interested in other facets of a road trip.

Other events, such as COTV Cruises are also on the horizon. Don’t miss out on the opportunities for fun and friendship. You will be welcomed with open arms whether you are a charter member or a new member and there is no better way to get to know everyone than a trip together.
